BTS’s Jimin Jokes About Gaining 10kg in the Military: “Blame the Mess Tray, Not My Puffy Face”
In a candid Weverse livestream held with fellow member Jungkook after their official discharge on June 11, BTS’s Jimin appeared in uniform to express gratitude to fans and share humorous memories.
“Thank you all for waiting,” Jimin began. “With COVID-19 and all of us enlisting at different times, it’s been a long stretch apart. But now it’s time to prepare something new again.”
As they enjoyed pizza during the stream, Jimin poked fun at his appearance: “My face looks so swollen today. I even ran at 5 a.m. to reduce it—but swelling isn’t the real issue.”
Jungkook jokingly suggested that age might be to blame, prompting Jimin to admit: “I was actually dieting for a long time, but I still gained 10kg in the military, even after losing some weight before.”
So what’s the culprit? According to Jimin, “The mess tray is the problem. You eat way more than usual. Everything is carbs: rice, soup, even the side dishes.” Jungkook chimed in, agreeing: “Military food is calorie-packed. That’s why it tasted so good.”

Jimin and Jungkook’s return comes as BTS prepares to reunite fully, with only SUGA yet to be discharged—expected on June 21. The recent 2025 FESTA celebration on June 13–14 gathered over 60,000 ARMYs in Ilsan and featured heartfelt voice messages from the members and personal memorabilia at the “BTS Locker” exhibit.
